Mtbing In France

I will be heading to the Alps in France in July and want to do some mountain biking.
Would it be better to take my own bike or hire one there?
Has anyone had any good/bad experiences from either hiring a bike over there or taking your own bike.
Also any tips on packing the MTB in a hard case and hire shops/bike hire rates around the Alps? There is alot of info on the net,but would be cool to get some info from people who have been there and done it!!

Any info would be appreciated.

hi max, i did Les Gets last june with buddy. great trails, bike hire was roughly 300 yoyo for 3 days for a full sus dh rig, if you are interested in les gets / morzine i can mail you some contacts for accomodation, bike hire, airport transfer etc??

Was in Les Gets last year and it's fantastic.

Bringing your own bike will only cost 80 yoyos return but beware, you need to book your place on the plane well in advance as there's only space for 6 bikes on the plane.

Don't bother with a bike case, just get a cardboard bike box from your local bikeshop. Much sterdier and it's free!
