Trance or Reign? Anyway, I've last years Trance and I love it, could'nt recommend it enough! I've upgraded it a bit with Juicy 5's and Mx Pro forks. Climbs well, descends great. I'm sure the new one is even better, go for it.
Or buy mine, and then I can buy a new one!!!

the Duck, pick the Duck..
i would..Ducks are great..
not quite Chickens or seagulls, kind of in between..unlike chickens though they like water, which makes them more like seagulls except they taste way better..
this nonsense is about as much use as asking people what bike you should get..
get the one you like the most, Don. When you see it in the flesh and touch it you'll know.
The Reign makes sense,so does the trance..i've seen what they can do, but the people I've seen them under are all savage riders..i like single pivot bikes because I'm not a skilled rider, I rely on brute force and hoping for the best, a multi linkage bike would be wasted on me.
I'm a butcher
But you are a very precise skilful rider,
so you're a surgeon..
I hope my colourful and rambling message helps

Thank you Byrner, I'll take one of these ducks, do you have them in Carbon? You are right of course, but I value the opinion of people who know more about this stuff than I do, so I'll feast on their knowledge and then I will go and look at one or two bikes. I did the same with the NRS (which you recommended to me) and it worked out great.Zoop de jour.

B*llox.....
buy a Commencal 5.5.1
But just in case you don't, here's why you shouldn't buy the giant, they only made it to fill the gap in the market, they had a good 4 inch travel bike and a good 6 inch travel bike but they didn't have a 5 inch travel one so they just fecked with the 4 inch travel one to make it work.... SO.... it wasn't designed as a 5 inch travel bike it was b*stardised to fill the little hole in the product range...
It will never feel as good as a bike that was designed to be a 5 inch travel bike.
NEVER
Are you keeping the NRS ?

Sorry, I got all confused...
If it was me... here's my top 3 (in no order)
Orange 5 SE - nice bike, great gear on it but very expensive and not my favorite suspension design.
Commencal 5.5.1 - nice bike, great gear on it, better value than the Orange but some people say they are a touch heavy.
Trek EX 8 - nice bike, great gear on it, super value for money but a bit unproven.
If I was buying now it would be the Commencal - just because I like them
If I was in your shoes it would be the Trek
There's also Intense's and various others but they are too expensive.
Thing is... all these bikes are good
