The second of the developmental XC Race Series events commences on 7th March in Ballyhoura (http://www.ballyhouracountry.com/destinations/8-ardpatrick/experiences/9-ballyhoura-mountain-biking), Cork.
This series is sponsored by the Cycling Ireland*Offroad Commission (http://www.irishxcmtb.com/2009/12/04/2010-offroad-commission-members/), Biking.ie (http://www.biking.ie),*WheelWorx (http://www.wheelworxbikes.com/) and Snap Printing (http://www.snapprinting.ie/index.cfm?area=snapcenter&action=snapcenterdetail&SnapCenterID=16), being managed by Richie Byrne from EPICMTB and supported by various volunteers and club-members around the country.
While you have the option of registering on the day, you are requested to*register online (http://fs17.formsite.com/offroadeventsreg/XCevent/index.html) for this event in order to speed-up the sign-on process and reduce queues on the Sunday morning.
Online registration (http://fs17.formsite.com/offroadeventsreg/XCevent/index.html) will be*closing at 1pm on Sat 6th March so make sure to register in time!
Sign-on on the Sunday will close at approx 11am so ensure to arrive early, get your race plate and have a practice lap or two!
This 3 race series is aimed at the beginner/novice, women and youth categories and there won’t be any savage climbs, everything will be rideable.
There will be an A and *B category for Sport:

A for riders who have reasonable experience on a bike
B for complete beginners

Other categories will be:

Under 16
Under 14
Under 12
Under 10
Under 8.

Entry fee will be €10 for SPORT A/B, Women, and Under 14/16.
All other Youth categories will be free entry but one day licences will be compulsory.
It is planned that Under 8/10/12 races will start at 10am with Under 14/16/Sports A & B/Ladies at 12 midday.
The Offroad Commission will be providing the medals and additional support along with senior racers from various clubs – big thanks to those who have volunteered to help with this series!

ok i will have more info regarding this race before the end of the week but instead of multiple laps it will be 1 Lap for Womens and Sports B and 2 Laps for sports A. The Loop is 11k.

For anyone going to Ballyhoura for stage 2, here is a very good overview with maps of the standard trails (Note not the specific 11K loop). Just the standardd loops!

come on now boys and girls, lets get to this, its not just about racing, its about having the craic and riding somewhere new ! Its about 3 hours from Dublin to Ballyhoura.
Some of our new superstars are heading down to race..lets make it as big as the last one !

only 16 riders have pre. registered so far for ballyhoura hope more riders get out and support this great event .the charleville park hotel has rooms available for E85 (3 sharing) good value for a 4 star hotel it's only 10 mile from ballyhoura roll on sunday

There are a nice few loops down there - that 11km loop (if it is the one I'm thinking) is excellent - some shallow climbing but the final few km of singletrack descending is just amazing. Great to ride at any speed with the faster you go, the trickier it gets :)

kids will be at 11.00
Sports A and B will be off at 12.00 ok..unless we get an unprecedented entry before then.
Its an 11k Loop.
So it will be one lap for B and Possibly 2 laps for the As.

get the finger out Members theres only 38 bleeding people signed up for this. I'm heading down on Saturday , staying in the Deebert House Hotel in Kilmallock with Carol and Sophie !
Theres feck all EPIC heads signed up for this ! I realise its a 3 hour drive from Dublin but come on !! The last one was great craic !
