Try Tikincor, just outside Clonmel, opposite the Bulmers factory and across the bridge so it is just about in Waterford. I was there on Sunday, some really nice XC trails in the woods though I didn't have time to explore it properly.

The Knockmealdown mountains, also on the Tipp- Waterford border is another spin worth doing, start near Clogheen, go right around the mountains. There's some nice rocky descending along the way.

Quite a lot of trails up on the southern side of Slievenamon....which is pretty close to Waterford.

Have a look at http://www.tipperarymountainbikers.org/forum/

The best way would be to load the trails on a GPS, if you had one.
There's no way marking but you could probably find your way with an OS map in conjunction with the trail map.

no gps : ( most trails over here are way marked, and i grew up in snowdonia so know my way around. never need one (till now). might be worth looking in to it.

if not, where could i get a trail map?? any bike shops in waterford?

any bike shops in waterford?

Altitude on Ballybricken Green - general outdoor store with quite a few mountain bikes
Spokes on Patrick Street - small, but good bike shop
Cyclone on Meeting House Lane - good range of mountain bikes

All in the city centre.

Couple of good bicycle shops in Clonmel:
Worldwide Cycles on Suir Island http://www.worldwidecycles.com/
The Cycle Centre in Irishtown

Probably not....
Given that most trails are "outlaw" trails on land managed by the national forestry management company, Coillte, there's not much in the way of official maps !

Best bet is to hook up with locals through the various forums (as you are doing here).
